Task 3.1: Laboratory study of the acoustic and optical backscattering behavior of benthic flora in dependence of growth phase and ambient parameters

Task 3.2: Field measurements using adapted acoustic systems and comparison with LiDAR (UCPH, AHM) to sense spatial distribution, height, density, and maximum depth of Zostera marina and Fucus

Objectives of workpackage 3:

  • Develop best practice for remote sensing and baseline assessments of benthic macrophytes, their distribution, canopy heights, and maximum water depth of occurrence
  • Feasibility study about acoustic and optical remote sensing for distinction of different species of macrophytes and corresponding biomass estimates
  • Testing acoustic remote sensing for detection of seagrasses in leafless state
